I had the smothered chili burrito, and it was delicious. I'm crazy for real tortillas and refried beans. The wait staff was very prompt, but I'm glad we missed the dinner rush. Once it hit, we had to wait for a while for everything.

Cheap and incredibly fast! Best service I've ever had, and fastest sit-down restaurant experience I've ever had. Within seconds of sitting down, you'll have a water and chips and salsa in front of you. Placing an order is easy, the food comes out fast, and getting the bill is also fast. The food is also good.

Had dinner here with my husband on the last night of our honeymoon; we were in SLC for one night before our flight home. Homemade flour tortillas were great, service was great, rest of the food was better than average for a Mexican joint. Outside of building is a bit off putting, inside is very nice.

Delicious! Nothing fussy or fancy, but worth the trip into town. The building is a little sketchy on the outside, but very clean and well organized on the inside. Friday night at 6:30 we were seated immediately. The wait staff was extremely attentive and friendly. I spilled food all over my white shirt & my waiter noticed and brought extra napkins and a chlorox wipe out to me! They have free chips (endless?) & salsa. The chips are definitely home made & the salsa is thick and just a bit spicy. I had the chicken fajita burrito & had it smothered in chicken chili verde (nothing against the little guy, but I personally just don't love pig). It came with perfectly grilled chicken and caramelised veggies wrapped in a home made flour tortilla. The thing was huge. Had rice & beans (again, tasted like they're made in house). Topped with fresh guac & sour cream. My husband ordered the cheese enchiladas in corn tortillas. Fresh, perfectly sauced & home made tortillas. We ordered water to drink and they brought & left a pitcher on the table (thank you!) Although they'd stop by occasionally & still fill our glasses for us. My waiter put extra chili verde sauce in the bottom of my to go container "because I don't want your leftovers to be dry". So awesome! We spent around $25 & will definitely be back!

GF and I come here quite often. Carlos the usual sever on staff is AMAZING! He'll know you by name and what you like to drink/order if you become a loyal patron. They could work on the atmosphere a bit but I'm just picking knits, I LOVE this place and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for good Mexican food at a good price. The margaritas are top notch!'

Home Run! Just moved to Utah and this is by far the best place I've eaten at. I haven't had a meal lik e that since my grandmother passed a couple of months ago. The food absolutely delicious and literally tasted like I was eating at my grandma's. I chose the steak & eggs w/potatoes and beans, not to mention the homemade flour tortillas . My husband got the "small platter" which consisted of 4 entree items, not sure it should be called small but he wasn't complaining. Quality and taste equally as good as mine, though my steak was very tender and I got it well done. Complimentary chips and salsa were very good and potentially really filling if you don't watch it. The place is extremely clean, quaint and inviting. The service was superior, we literally didn't wait more than a minute for anything. Even our meal came out in, what felt like, 5 minutes. The gentleman who helped us kept drinks filled and we lacked nothing! We can't wait to come back whenever we need our fix!

Sorry...but yuck. Guac tasted old...or not like avocado. Chicken enchiladas taste like chicken broth...and the rice and beans had no flavor....Margs are sweet and taste like a mix. Server was super nice though..

Great Mexican food!! I thought it was great food for reasonable price. The food was amazing and the service was great. I had a mexican steak that was covered in a delicious mexican sauce with sautéed onions and bell peppers, with rice and beans on the side. The margaritas were so good, and the price was really reasonable. They use Sauza Tequila for their margaritas and have super cold beer. I'm definitely going back!!

Such a delightful find.....I am here for a convention and popped in not thinking I would stay and eat since I am alone and was headed back to the hotel. The place is cute, and immaculate. So I stayed and had a yummy breakfast dinner with a glass of wine LOL. Recommend this to all convention goers after long days of training!

Since my last review, I have been here 2 more times. Both times I have gotten the steak & shrimp fajitas. The shrimp are large, the chicken is tender, and you get enough of both. I ordered mine with no beans, rice or tortillas because of dietary restrictions and asked the waiter if I could substitute. He suggested a mushroom mix and I was very pleased with that .... nice, large mushrooms sautéed with tomatoes and peppers. The husband loves their chili verde. Kudos to the chef , Same waiter all 3 times ... service still excellent at this little place.

It's unfortunate that a restaurant can't be solely rated/judged by the customer service. That been said, the food was controversial to say the least. I ordered the Carne asada which was actually called "Mexican steak" on the menu, which wasn't an issue. The issue was the very low quality beef with almost zero flavor. (I think they get their meat from the same distributor as mcdonalds). long story short...salsa bad, chips bad, tortillas amazing (which doesn't make sense), steak terrible, Margarita average, and finally...customer service great. 2 stars. Just a note to anyone that thinks the food here is better than two stars, you really need to get out of Utah.

What a great find...La Fountain! Don't judge a book by its cover. The exterior looks a little scary, but the inside is very quaint and the food is incredibly delicious. I had the shrimp and chicken fajitas and they were as good as I have ever had. The hand made tortillas made all the difference. My wife had the fajita burrito and was very happy with it. Excellent food, excellent service and great prices. Don't pass it up!

It seemed to be the closest place to the Salt Palace Convention center, so I hopped over there with about half an hour to spend. From the exterior, I assumed it was not a sit down place, but I walked in and surprise! it was. I was a bit concerned about this, but the service was prompt. I had ordered in two minutes and the food came in less than ten. The service is great, they refilled my chips as I took the last one. The lunch special is also very reasonable at $7.49. The food was very very hot, but the waiter warned me so it wasn't an issue. Definitely will be going back next time I'm in town.

My wife and I ate here for the first time tonight. I had the chile verde burrito combo plate. I loved it! The burrito was so tasty. I usually don't get very excited about rice and beans, but these were so delicious! And may be the best thing all night was the homemade flour tortillas. My wife says "this is one of the best, if not the best, chile rellenos that I have ever had." The service was great! The only thing I think they could improve on would be the ambience. It was clear that it was previously a sushi bar; they could use some Mexican decor.

This place is delicious and the food is very fresh. It has big portions and is inexpensive (2 people= $24). It's pretty loud, but I didn't find it too distracting. I would definitely come here again.

This little restaurant is just down the street from the convention center. It seems to draw locals, and that is always a good thing. I had a very quick lunch while in town for a conference. Unfortunately they didn't have any tamales, so I just had the tacos. Nothing special, but served quickly, fresh and with a good staff.

My second time here and they treat me like family! The food is excellent and the service is quick and friendly. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes authentic Mexican food. I ordered Asada Burrito smother on chile verde, it was delicious!

Just got back to our hotel after a wonderful dinner. We tend to eat early so the restaurant was not to busy. The food and service was excellent, the portions are very generous and we were glad we had to walk back to our hotel. Please give this restaurant a try, you will not be sorry.

So happy this location of La Fountain is now open! This location is definitely a step-up from the others. Super clean and super cute. The food is traditional and delicious mexican fare. The service was attentive and friendly. We'll definitely be back for the chili verde smothered burrito :)

I have eaten here a few times. On these cold days it's a nice warm comfortable place to to have real authentic Mexican food served HOT so you can enjoy a warm feeling of the flavors of south of the boarder. I Enjoy the tacos and beef enchiladas and Chang always wants the beef Chimichanga platter and a Margarita or two makes the meal complete it's like being in Margarita Ville a great place to have Cocktails at Five O' Clock good thing they have a full bar.

Just as good as always, glad they came downtown. FYI, La Puente changed their name to La Fountain so if you know La Puente (or La Frontera), this is the same menu.

We wanted to eat at a competitor's, yet with the rain and wait, we drove to find another place. Good thing, as this place was worth the effort. Small and cozy, good service, and what I felt was the 3rd best chile relleno I've ever had (sorry, I'm partial to my top 2). Cost was extremely reasonable, and portions didn't leave wanting for more. Just a small glitch with the fried ice cream, as we have had better, since this did not have the crunch we expect.

Awesome food and margaritas! Super friendly staff! They made me an awesome veggie burrito per my request (there wasn't one on the menu)! I just wish they had one in Charlotte, NC!! Don't miss out on this place!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
